Picking Your Wedding Party
You may be excited to daydream about who will stand with you as you say “I do,” but there’s no need to rush into choosing your wedding party. Take the time to think about who you want to be a part of this special group. Proper wedding etiquette is to give at least 8 months’ notice. So, as long as you ask your future bridesmaids 8 months to a year in advance, no need to stress about doing this right away.Choosing Your Music
Another task that can wait is selecting the music you will play at your wedding. Eventually, you will need to choose songs to play as you walk down the aisle, for the first dance, and the rest of the reception. However, there are much more urgent tasks that should take precedence, so don't stress about this until later.Buying Your Dress
For most brides, purchasing a wedding dress is one of the most fun tasks on their wedding to-do list. However, you don’t need to do this task right away, especially if you’re unsure about what you want. Feel free to gather inspiration from Pinterest, online boutiques, and magazines before venturing out to try on dresses. Having an idea of what you want will guide you during the shopping process, so it's OK to take your time in the beginning.Planning the Honeymoon
Decisions about your honeymoon can also wait until later. Take the time to talk over ideas with your future spouse before rushing out to book anything. Especially during the current pandemic uncertainty, it’s best to wait to make any decisions about traveling until you think it through.Dealing with Legal Logistics
There are several less glamorous aspects of wedding planning, including dealing with legal stuff. You will eventually need to apply for a marriage license and look into other legalities, such as changing your name and dealing with tax forms. Fortunately, other than your marriage license, the rest of these legal tasks can wait until after the wedding, so this is another area you don't need to stress about just yet.Wedding planning can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be done at all once.
