7 Things To Do After You Get Engaged

1. Celebrate with your new fiancé(e)!
The first thing to do after getting engaged is to celebrate with your new fiancé(e)! You’ll have time to make plans and celebrate with everyone else later, but try to savor some moments with one another before the craziness begins.
2. Tell friends and family
After you’ve celebrated together (for as long you like), it’s time to tell friends and family! Many of them may already know that your partner was planning to pop the question, and they’ll be anxiously awaiting your call. You get to choose who knows first, but most couples tell their parents before anyone else. If you can, meet with them in person to share the happy news. If not, a phone or video call will do.
3. Announce your engagement on social media
Once your closest friends and family know, then it’s time to announce your engagement on social media! You can be as creative as you’d like, but don’t feel pressured to come up with a one-of-kind announcement if you don’t want to. Short, simple announcements work just as well.
4. Insure the ring
After that ring is on your finger, it’s important to have it insured. Call your insurance provider and see if you can have the ring added to your current policy, or if you’ll need to take out a new, separate policy. After thoroughly celebrating your engagement, you can move on to wedding planning! Start by thinking about the big picture, such as the time of day and mood of the event. Here are some questions you can ask yourself that will help you start planning:
What kind of wedding have you always envisioned? Does this vision still fit your personality?

- What is your favorite time of year?

7. Choose a venue and set the date!
