"On a warm Paris evening in the middle of August, I wandered down a bridge with the love of my life thinking we’d take a picture or two in front of the Eiffel Tower. Instead, we stumbled across a cheesy Hallmark-style film shoot in need of some extras for a romantic scene. Of course I said yes with a 'reluctant' Filup in tow, and before I knew it, we were whisked into the middle of the shoot as stand-ins for tired actors, and… well… It was all a perfectly crafted ruse by Filup.

If I’d been paying closer attention, I might’ve noticed that the woman selling roses with the prosthetic nose and a heavily padded body suit was actually my mom in disguise. Or that the security guard with the beanie and goatee had an uncanny resemblance to my dad. Or spotted my best friend hiding across the bridge with Kylo and Pixie. Or picked up on the violinist playing a medley of my favorite happy Taylor Swift songs. (Instead I thought, 'Oh man, they’ll never get licensing for these songs on this budget.')

But even in the moment as Filup and I read through the ridiculous romcom scene 'just for a camera rehearsal' and he started going off script, the idea that this was actually a proposal felt preposterous to me when I looked out at the sea of faces that were, in fact, hired improv actors playing crew members, background, security, etc.

Filup, to say I love you feels too small. I adore everything about you, from your fearlessness in self-expression to your ability to pull off a full-scale international film production down to the tiniest details like Hera Studios t-shirts on the crew and a humorously crafted script by Benjamin Reed. (Two dogs I love dearly who couldn’t be there.) You are everything I ever dreamed of in a partner but never believed I’d actually find in one human.

This was the easiest and most emphatic yes of my life. I’ll love you to the end of time."
