You may wonder what's so special about Antwerp. Outside the incredible Belgian Chocolate, not much. Except of course this wonderful little street, Pelikaanstrat where the world diamond market comes to mingle. The building's security is tougher than getting into the White House, really- I've been to both, but suddenly you understand. When you ask in a small office to see a 2-carat princess cuts they have hundreds to choose from. Now that's a fun way to spend an afternoon. Diamonds come to Antwerp from all over the world, some rough, some polished. They are traded, cut, traded, and sometimes traded again. The players are Israeli, African, German, Indian, English, and occasionally you will see a couple of Lancaster County Mennonites in the mix.
